We were fortunate to have visits by authors Michael Pryor and Simmone Howell who conducted workshops with, challengine us with some unusual exercises. Diary of a Wimpy Kid – student response

Year 7 students were preparing responses to their Reading Circle books. Two of the boys chose to write a song based on the book they had read “Diary of a wimpy kid” by Jeff Kinney. It is not quite the same without Pat’s great guitar riffs, but here are the lyrics – a great book response!

Diary of Greg    by Pat and Ed

Greg loves to play video games all day

Metalhead brother Rodrick got no education.

Younger brother Manny makes tears, that’s clear

Best friend Rowley’s mind no function.

Greg gets a diary

Writes in it every day

If the kids find out

They’ll start killing him.

Keep writing faster

Write in your diary

Keep writing faster write in your diary

Diary.

Diary of Greg, write in it if you may

Writing about what you did all day

Writing all day you just can’t stop

Just keep writing till you run out of pages

Diary

Diary

Just keep writing till you run out of pages

Diary

Diary.

Time for Halloween, dressed up at the scene

Greg is dressed as a pirate

But he has to bring little bro’ Manny.

Can’t go anywhere remotely dangerous.

Greg gets a diary

Writes in it every day

If the kids find out

They’ll start killing him.

Keep writing faster

Write in your diary

Keep writing faster write in your diary

Diary.

Diary diary, where’s the dreams that I’ve been after?

Diary, diary, they think I’m a wuss.

Laughter, laughter all I hear or see is laughter.

Laughter, laughter,  laughing at my cries.

Wizard of Oz school play, no more characters left

Greg gets cast as a tree,

They sing a bad song, a song called We Three Trees,

But disaster happens at the play.

Greg gets a diary

Writes in it every day

If the kids find out

They’ll start killing him.

Diary of Greg, write in it if you may

Writing about what you did all day

Writing all day you just can’t stop

Just keep writing till you run out of pages

Diary

Diary

Just keep writing till you run out of pages

Diary

Diary.
